A message from
Janet Davidson, O.C.,
President and CEO of Trillium Health Centre
There is no better foundation for future success than a proven track record of excellence
When we speculate about our future, we think about the past. And when we measure how much things have changed, we wonder how much more they will change.
This has never been more true than it is now as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Trillium Health Centre and acknowledge more than 100 years of excellence in the histories of our progenitors, Queensway General Hospital and South Peel/The Mississauga Hospital.
That perspective often leads us to observe that things have come full circle. In this case, it’s true.
South Peel Hospital — later The Mississauga Hospital — was built because a community came together. Members of Port Credit Rotary Club and Credit Valley Lions Club joined forces to realize the dream of a hospital for a community forced to travel into the city for hospital care. And when funding fell short, the citizens voted to raise their own taxes in order to support the hospital.
Three thousand canvassers went door-to-door to raise funds to complete Queensway General Hospital, and labour throughout the Lakeshore was asked to commit two days’ pay through payroll deduction. While committees and volunteers raised money, members of the women’s auxiliary sewed linens for the operating room.
As we look back we realize that between those days and now, the consistent thread has been our partnership with the community — patients, families, donors, corporations and of course, our committed, passionate staff.
Looking forward to the next years in our journey, we will continue our tradition of leadership, excellence and innovation to provide the highest quality, and safest possible, patient-centred care. We look to the ongoing support of our community to guide us through challenges, identify opportunities and commemorate our milestones.
A decade of innovation, a century of excellence — all in partnership with our community. This is truly something to celebrate.
